The Advocate

JANUARY 2012

The New Year has begun and I’m now serving full-time as Associate Presbyter AND African American Advocate. The call provides me with ten hours per week to work with and serve you as Advocate. I want to make sure that our ministry together is strong and makes a powerful impact on the ministry of our churches and the presbytery. I invite you to pray for this ministry and join me in formulating a plan for our work together in 2012.

I can’t quote him, but I heard Rev. Toure’ Marshall preach on the first Sunday of December saying that we must have “A Passion for Possibility.”
Well, I believe it. Having a passion can get to and through many things. I want to challenge you to develop a passion for your ministry and think of all the possibilities there are for you going forward in 2012 and let’s get to some serious work. We just celebrated the birth of the Savior, Emmanuel, God with us. And now we take the journey with the Magi’s to Bethlehem with our gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Having been warned in a dream not to go back the way we came, let’s set out for ‘home’ by another road.

FYI -
I want to stay connected to my congregations. So if your church has a calendar for the year of events or a set calendar of events for the month (i.e. monthly bible study, PW, etc) please let me know.

As you think about what your needs are, we can get training, fellowship and conversation groups, etc. going for this cluster.

Dianna Wright photo For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent,
and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest,
until her vindication shines out like the dawn,
and her salvation like a burning torch.
The nations shall see your vindication,
and all the kings your glory;
And you shall be called by a new name
that the mouth of the LORD will give.
Isaiah 62:1-2
